Potassium metabisulfite

Synthetic preservative. It is obtained from the combustion of sulfur-containing minerals. The well-known sulfites contained in wine are formed when sulfur dioxide comes into contact with alkaline solutions. It is used to prevent enzymes, bacteria and prevent discoloration of foods.
